edgeX Background Introduction#
What is edgeX#
This tutorial will introduce the recently launched edgeX—
- edgeX is the first MVP to adopt an order book model, providing the experience and trading features of a centralized exchange while allowing users to self-custody their assets.
- edgeX focuses on liquidity and on-chain financial infrastructure for trading, combining the performance of CeFi with the security and transparency of DeFi, aiming to build a complete on-chain financial system.
- The edgeX team members come from well-known institutions such as Barclays, Morgan Stanley, Bybit, and HTX, and are developing multiple applications based on trading and liquidity.
Security of edgeX#
The edgeX account system is built on the ETH mainnet. To facilitate users, it supports deposits via the lower gas fee ARB chain and allows free cross-chain transfers of funds to the mainnet through its own liquidity pool. Regardless of which chain users deposit through, the final funds are stored on Ethereum ETH to maximize the security of user funds.
The Next Hyperliquid?#
It can be said that edgeX occupies a favorable position; it is the only product that has not yet issued a token and offers an experience comparable to the current number one DEX, Hyperliquid.
After the Hyperliquid airdrop craze in 2024, the edgeX product is gradually maturing. edgeX is supported by the well-known market maker Amber Group, whose team is proficient in trading, user needs, and liquidity strategies, with product capabilities on par with Hyperliquid.

Detailed Tutorial for edgeX#
Step 1 Register with Email#
Open the official website in a mobile browser, Note: You must use a mobile browser, as the email input box may not display on a computer.
- Enter a commonly used email, click the “Confirm” button—> enter the 6-digit verification code received in the email to complete registration.
- Click the “Android APK” download link at the bottom to download the installation package and follow the prompts to install the app. iOS users need to download TestFlight first, then install the trial package.
- After installation, click “Connect” on the homepage and select “Email Login.”
Step 2 Complete the First Deposit#
After logging in, click the green “Deposit” button in the upper right corner to enter the deposit page. edgeX defaults to support deposits via the Arbitrum chain, and the platform generates a unique wallet address (e.g., 0x93c57911d2eE4B3cB9C12e31c3Be2f3eD71d52ba, the address varies by user).
It is recommended that beginners deposit at least $100 to receive a 5-point reward. Points are valuable and may be redeemable for tokens at a 1:1 ratio in the future, so avoid wasting your new user status.
Method 1: Deposit from Wallet#
edgeX is a decentralized exchange and only supports on-chain deposits. If you have a wallet such as MetaMask, TokenPocket, Rabby, or Backpack (including assets like USDT), switch to the Arbitrum chain and transfer to the edgeX address.
Method 2: Deposit from CEX#
If you do not have a cryptocurrency wallet, you can deposit from a centralized exchange (such as OKX, Bitget). Refer to the article https://heiyetouzi.xyz/zhifubao-btc/ to complete registration, verification, binding payment methods, and depositing RMB.
It is recommended that beginners choose Method 2: Wallet deposits involve cross-chain/bridge operations, which are complex and have high fees. An example is shown below (withdrawing $101 from OKX to the edgeX address 0x93c57911d2eE4B3cB9C12e31c3Be2f3eD71d52ba):
【Note】When withdrawing from CEX, be sure to select the Arbitrum chain, with the address being the edgeX address, and the USDT amount must be greater than $100 (approximately 700 RMB).
Step 3 Trade to Earn Points#
Once the deposit is credited, you can start trading. Set the leverage multiplier (up to 100x), choose the direction (buy/long or sell/short). Note the risks: While trading offers point rewards, it also involves fees and potential loss of principal, so avoid over-investing.
Step 4 Airdrop Points#
Click the “Points” tab at the top to view the points earned from trading. Points are updated every Wednesday (UTC timezone), displaying total trading volume, points, and weekly rankings. For example, normal trading can earn 225 points (ranked 117), with fee losses of about $5, which is relatively cost-effective.

I am a beginner and not very familiar with contracts. Does edgeX have spot trading?
Beginners are advised to try contract trading with small funds and low leverage. If contracts are not suitable, you can wait for the spot trading feature to launch in February 2025. -
Can edgeX open both long and short positions?
You can create sub-accounts through your wallet to hold both long and short positions simultaneously. Switch to the corresponding account during operations for a good experience. -
My wallet has a USDT balance, but I cannot deposit to edgeX?
Check if your wallet has a small amount of Arbitrum chain ETH for gas fees. If not, you need to obtain ETH through swap or bridge operations. If you are not familiar, it is recommended to use Method 2 to deposit from CEX.
